Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks - “Forever 28”
I will be pushing the new Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks album all weekend. It is pretty great.
If anybody ever had to evaluate my mental state (or semi-eclectic taste in music) all they would have to do is look at my record purchases today.
*Not pictured is the new Decemberists album.
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - “Everlyn”
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin’s first two albums had enough hooks to drive any fish (or music lover) insane and their third release, Let It Sway is no different. What has changed is their delivery. With both Broom and Pershing, they managed to create an certain ambiance that would almost have you believing that they were playing in your living room. That is gone on Let it Sway which can likely (and probably) be attributed to Chris Walla’s production of the album.
It will take some time to get used to Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin’s new found slickness but the first time you find yourself with one of Let it Sway’s songs stuck in your head, you’ll realize what keeps you coming back for more.
Cloud Nothings - “Turning On”
Last week I posted this on Tuneage. Now that it has been up for a couple of days I feel like I might have made a mistake. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great song but I’ve found myself singing the song posted here a lot more. Perhaps a better recommendation would be to buy the album and pick your own favorite.
The Morning Benders - “Excuses”
I have been posting way to many pictures lately and this song is currently dominating every part of my life.
